A geriatrician, Dr. Millikin, deals with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease and disability in older adults. This includes the holistic care of patients in a nursing home setting. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of dementia.
Dr. Millikin received her medical degree from the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, Ill. She completed a fellowship in geriatric medicine at Oregon Health and Sciences University in Portland, Ore. She also completed a residency and internship in internal medicine at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Ore. Her undergraduate degree is from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
"I grew up in a multigenerational home that included my grandmother," said Dr. Millikin. "That experience sparked my interest in caring for the older population. Because of my upbringing, I have a unique appreciation for the important role a family plays in the care of their elders."
In her spare time, Dr. Millikin enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and the family's dog and two cats. She likes outdoor activities, including walking, hiking, cross country skiing, biking and swimming.
