A handful of Rhinelander High School JV and Rhinelander middle school skiers took part in both legs of the Havoc at CAVOC ski race Jan. 3 and 4 at the Cedric A. Vig Outdoor Classroom.
Freshman Alayna Franson finished fifth overall in the girls' JV pursuit with a two-day cumulative time of 1 hour, 4 minutes, 59 seconds.
In the middle school boys' division, Zach Goodrich led the way for the Hodags, placing 24th (28:31). Jacques Tulowitzky was 25th (28:51), Breckin Younker was 26th (29:50) and Finn Tulowitzky was 30th (31:32). Liana Teter was 33rd in the girls' middle school division (38:09).
RBA 8th grade boys open season undefeated
The Rhinelander Basketball Association's eighth-grade boys' traveling team took first place in their first tournament of the season Jan. 3 at Antigo.
The Hodags went undefeated on the day defeating Amherst 54-4, Wisconsin Rapids 64-36, Rosholt 62-35 and Antigo in the championship game 43-40.
