He was born in Lomira, Mo. on Sept. 21, 1926, the son of John and Mary (Stimac) Kauzlarich.
Fred's mother passed away when he was 18 months old. He was then raised by his paternal grandparents in Numa, Iowa. Fred was a graduate of Numa High School. He proudly served his country during World War II in the Merchant Marines in the Philippines from 1945 until 1946. Upon his discharge Fred moved to Kenosha and while only in his 20s became the owner and operator of Freddie's Bar which he owned for 46 years before retiring in 1991. Fred had vacationed in McNaughton at his summer cottage since 1971 and moved permanently to McNaughton in 1991. He was a member of the Wisconsin Tavern League and past Commander of the Lake Tomahawk Colin F. Shultz American Legion Post #318. Fred loved exercising, watching the wildlife and animals. He will be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, and his engaging personality.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 36 years; Fran, six children: Thomas (Judy) Kauzrich of Kenosha, Fred Kauzrich of Kenosha, Ron Kauzrich of Kenosha, Patti Fafford (Randy Michael) of Kenosha, Kathy (Phillip) Reid of Kansasville and Kim (Greg) Graff of Monroe, Mich.; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mamie (Vernon) Clark, and by a brother, Keith Kauzrich.
The visitation for Fred will be held on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015 at the Hildebrand Russ Funeral Home from 1 until the 3 p.m. funeral service. Chaplain John Uhlarik will officiate. Full military honors will follow the 3 p.m. service. A second visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 23, 2015 at the Piasecki Althaus Funeral Home located at 3720 39th. Avenue, Kenosha, Wisconsin 53144, (262) 658-4101 from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. service. Entombment will be at All Saints Cemetery, Kenosha.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Fred may be given to the Rhinelander Animal Shelter, or to the Colin F. Shultz American Legion Post #318..
