The Rhinelander High School Mock Trial team won its 29th consecutive regional title at the 32nd annual Mock Trial Regional Tournament held Saturday in Wausau.

RHS Team 1 defeated D.C. Everest Team 1 in the finals to bring home the gold. D.C. Everest Team 2 took third place. RHS Team 1 is made up of seniors Mike Anderson and Erin Tenderholt, juniors Anna Catlin, Emily Ditzler, and Jarod Hoha, and sophomores Ellie Rickman, Albiona Sabani, and Sydney Schallock.

Coach Kathy Vick-Martini said she's proud of the way her team performed.

"It was a little scary in the beginning, but at the end it felt really, really good," she said. "The kids are peaking at just the right time. They really had a great tournament and I'm very proud of them."

The team will now set its sights on its 18th state championship next month. The state semifinals are scheduled for March 7, with the finals scheduled the next day in front of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. RHS won its 17th state title last year.
