Rhinelander Swim Club hosts meet
During the meet, the club added another swimmer to its state roster as 11-year-old Jack Antonuk recorded a state-qualifying time in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 3 minutes, 0.99. Antonuk will join teammates James Heck and Abi Winnicki, who posted state-qualifying times earlier in the season.
The club also saw one of its long-standing records fall Saturday. Makenna Winnicki broke the club record in the 11-12 year old girls' 200 backstroke with a time of 2:30.47. The previous record of 2:33.28 was held by Lindsay Byrka - who is now the head coach of the Rhinelander Swim Club - and had been unbroken for 24 years.
Several Hodags posted time drops last Saturday. The biggest came from eight-year-old Kadyn Taylor, who improved an amazing 1 minute 16.10 seconds in the 8 and under 100 individual medley. Other who dropped time included Daniel Gillingham
(-10.37 seconds, 100 freestyle), Eva Heck
(-11.93, 25 butterfly), Lisa Kennedy (-15.09, 200 IM), Houston Mathwig (-11.17, 100 IM), Sophia Miljevich (-23.41, 100 freestyle), Hannah Rumney, (-12.31, 100 IM), Avayah Salaam, (-12.70, 25 butterfly) and Makenna Winnicki (-10.10, 200 freestyle).
Those scoring top-three finishes last Saturday for Rhinelander included:
