August 21, 2015 at 2:26 p.m.
The event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Camp Birchrock, Rhinelander, five miles west of Rhinelander on County Highway K.
Guests will learn how they can help scientists monitor bats. Joel Knutson, a local citizen researcher from Rhinelander and active participant with the Wisconsin Bat Project, will be giving a free, two-part public program on how to build your own bat house and how to locate and monitor bats where you live. In addition to learning how to make a bat house, participants will hear interesting facts about bats, learn why monitoring is important, and participate in actual live monitoring of bats at dusk. Families are welcome to attend. Bring a lawn chair to sit on.
Those interested in learning how to make a bat house should sign up no later than Aug. 24 online at https://goo.gl/NV9iPF or by calling 715-365-2750, as resources are limited.
This program is sponsored by Oneida County 4-H. For more information, call (715) 365-2750 or email [email protected].
