Jeff Smith, the Snowhawks playing manager, said they bring the firefighters into the park for a yearly game.
"The idea is to have fun and for different fans to come to the game to see the firefighters from different areas around here," Smith said.
Monday night's game was pretty one-sided with the Snowhawks winning the bout 23-12.
The Snowhawks retired the firefighters in order in the first and proceeded to get on the board quickly in the bottom half before the inning was called on the five-run rule.
The Snowhawks went on to invoke the five-run rule during four of the teams eight innings at-bat.
With a little help from the Snowhawks the firefighters plated nine runs in the final five innings of play.
During the top of the eighth inning the Snowhawks went to bat trying to find a hole for the ball to fall with 16 position players on the field for the firefighters.
Lending a helping hand, the Snowhawks fielded just six of nine position players in the bottom half of the eighth inning, utilizing only two out fielders. The help wasn't enough for the firefighters to dig themselves out of the early hole.
Smith said the firefighters played well, given that most had never played on snowshoes before.
"I know a lot of these guys have never been on snowshoes before. Some have, but there was a lot that hadn't," He said. "Given that they played really well."
With just three games remaining in the season Smith said the team is playing really well.
"Our bats are going good now and everyone feels comfortable. We're just going to finish the year having fun," He said.
The Snowhawks will take on the Shamrock next Monday, another underdog team heading into the game, and will face the All-Star Coaches, little league coaches and parents from around the area, and Wisconsin Public Service in the final two weeks of the season.
