Deputies, Rhinelander police apprehend Wausau man on outstanding warrants
By By River News Staff-
According to press release from Captain Terri Hook, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office received information Monday that Gabriel Bell, 37, was in the Rhinelander area and had outstanding warrants for his arrest stemming from cases dating back several years.
According to Hook, deputies as well as Rhinelander police officers worked together to determine Bell's location.
At some point, Bell left a residence located in the city of Rhinelander, the release states. A deputy attempted to stop Bell at which point he began to flee from the deputy in a vehicle and would not stop. Bell traveled down a dirt road until he became stuck, at which point he fled on foot into the woods between Davenport and Kemp streets.
A short time later, Bell was taken into custody at the AmericInn in Rhinelander.
"It is not uncommon for other agencies to reach out to us," said Hook. "Marathon County had been looking for him and their information led them here."
Hook said Bell does not have family ties to the Rhinelander area, but has several friends here.
Bell is being held on warrants as well as pending charges in Oneida County of fleeing from a law enforcement officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.
In Rock County, Bell faces a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer and another case charging him with bail jumping for not appearing in court on the first charge. In Marathon County, Bell has been charged with resisting or obstructing an officer.
