Children enjoy music and sunshine at Buck Lake Bash
By Kayla Thomason-
The annual event, sponsored by the Rhinelander District Library, is known as the Buck Lake Bash.
Dall was pleased with the turnout.
"I thought it was great," he said.
He said he liked that people gathered near him, parents got involved and people who were out in the water danced along a bit.
New this year, children were able to perform with Dall and learned how to keep a beat.
"They seemed to enjoy (the musical instruments)," Dall said. "A lot of times rhythm instruments - if you take out too many at a time - it drowns out everything else that's going around, but these guys they kept the beat and everything. I just thought I'd try that out and count one, two, three, four and they were naturals."
Dall said he loves getting the children involved in his concerts and said their involvement makes it their show and they can take some ownership of it.
"I think it's great," said Denise Chojnacki, associate librarian. "Anytime you get the kids involved - especially with music instruments - it's great."
A little two-year-old boy named Jeremiah wandered up to Dall, clapped his hands and ran back to his grandmother with a smile on his face.
"(Jeremiah) loves it," said Barb Scheeler, the toddler's grandmother. "We have two of Mr. Dall's CDs at home and he just loves Mr. Dall."
Jeremiah made a second appearance, dancing and clapping, before running back to his grandmother's arms.
"He (Jeremiah) stole the show," Dall said with a grin. "He stole the show and he's only two years old."
Dall said he depends on the audience to drive his shows and their interaction and energy plays a huge part.
"I think that a lot of kids are missing out by not coming out here and seeing (Mr. Dall)," said Scheeler. "I think Mr. Dall is absolutely wonderful."
The Buck Lake Bash was a hit with the other children as well.
"I like it because of swimming and I really like all the music," said Gracie Eberl.
Elizabeth Long said she liked the music and she really liked the baby guitar.
"This is one of our last summer programs so we're excited that it's such a beautiful day and hope that some people that may have attended today that don't normally attend the library will come," Chojnacki said.
She wasn't the only one who enjoyed the location and the beautiful day.
"I think the location is really good," Scheeler said. "It's not quite the same as being at the library, it's more relaxing out at the lake."
Dall was pleased with how the show went and is thankful for the audience's attendance.
"I appreciate all the people that came out and I love what I do," he said.
