The expansion into three days now allows the chance to cover the whole weekend or at least attend a day or part of a day at Trig's PotatoFest. "It's the perfect event that has something for every age," organizers said in a press release. "It's a great thing to do with family or friends in downtown Rhinelander."
The mission of PotatoFest, hosted by Downtown Rhinelander Inc. and Tri-County Council-Lily's House, is to have a positive community event that will gain recognition and popularity. Organizers seek to highlight the potato and bring awareness to the public how vital it is to the area. Wisconsin is ranked third in the country for potato growing and Rhinelander develops many types and supplies a high percentage of the plants used yearly by growers.
The festival is a spud-filled weekend of activities including a Friday fish fry, a kiddie parade, potato contests, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, a cribbage tournament, a potato salad cook-off, the Duck Regatta and much more. There will be food and merchant vendors on Saturday and live music throughout the weekend providing entertainment for all ages.
