Day 1: Monday, Aug. 3

What a blast so far! We have been up for a really long time and are exhausted! Here's a quick rundown of the highlights we noticed from today:

• "The sunset and sunrise from the airplane were amazing." Marisa (McGuire) & Paige (Ricard)

• "We got to have coffee, tea, and drinks in a skyscraper. The place was Cloud 23. It made everything look like a tiny town." Gwen (Frederickson) & Payton (Van Zile)

• "The traditional English breakfast was really good and different from ours." (Jada Appling)

• "The photo shoot behind the hostel by a Roman wall was amazing." Abby (Oettinger)

• "The houses are cool looking and match each other." Jaden (Olski)

• "The architecture is really different." Madi (Losch)

• "We had to be really careful of the speedy cars." Claire (Hjelle)

• "Weather...sometimes it was 'spitting' then it was sunny." Emma (Hjelle)

• "We found a soccer ball in the canal behind our hostel." Kenedy (Van Zile)

• "They drive fast and slam on the brakes." Brooke (Mork)

• "There are a lot of different cultures," Izzy (Haverkampf)

• "All the different buildings." Claire (Arbuckle)

We had a wonderfully busy and tiring day to say the least.

Next up...a team from Abbey Hey!

Abbey Hey: Tuesday, Aug. 4

Today was a great experience meeting the younger girls and connecting with them. We learned the differences in the soccer language. It was interesting because these girls were the same age most of us were when Barry (Harrison) coached us in Rhinelander. Seeing how we were an inspiration to them and how they responded to us. When we left their pitch they were holding and waving the American flags from the gift bags we gave them.

Some of us went to the mall - Trafford Centre. It wasn't an ordinary mall, it was a 2-mile long mall decorated similarly to Caesar's Palace. We felt underdressed with our jeans, cute shirts and sweatshirts because people of all ages were dressed in high fashion. It was also cool to see the design of the whole building.

Others went on a Manchester United Stadium tour - Old Trafford. First the tour guide walked us straight into the stadium and gave us a brief history of the stadium and club. We got to take pictures of the stadium and museum. Then Barry gave us the history of players and matches that were in the museum. We all went into the souvenir shop to purchase Man U gear. We ended the night eating at one of Barry's favorite restaurant, Nando's.

Once we got back to the hostel we had a team meeting to share our highs and lows of the day.
