Local woman raises money, shaves head to support co-worker's daughter
By Kayla Thomason-
Residents and staff members gathered at Friendly Village Tuesday to watch as activity assistant Linda Micheau's hair fell to the ground.
Cindy Fisher, Micheau's boss, and her daughter, Jennifer Huset, were present.
"I (shaved my head) because I wanted to do something for Jennifer and I've heard of other people doing it and I just wanted to help somehow," Micheau said. "I was just trying to figure out some way I could do something and we came up with this."
Huset, 41, was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma Feb. 12. Before that she had scleroderma, an autoimmune disease that may have contributed to the cancer, according to Fisher.
Micheau pledged to shave her head if she raised $500. The donations kept coming in and she raised a total of $1,045.25
"I can't say enough about it," Fisher said. "This is amazing that she would do this, we greatly appreciated it."
A number of Friendly Village residents and their families made donations to help the mother of three.
"I was just very happy to help them out like I could," Micheau said.
