There were 11 teams occupying all 11 available lanes, and many people were dressed in outfits designed to fit the theme: "I Love Rock and Bowl."
"Well (the turnout is) bigger than last year, I can see that from the turnout, and I liked the participation from last year," said Jennie Jaskie, second-year participant with Associated Bank. Their group was called The Rolling Stones.
Terri Snyder of the Hodag Harpers enjoyed the event.
"We're getting to do something fun but it's for a good cause so it's a win-win for everybody," Snyder said. "I think it's just a fun event. Big Brothers Big Sisters is such a great organization and so it's really nice to be able to get out there and help our community."
Michelle Miller, committee member for Bowl for Kids Sake, was dressed as Katy Perry this year. Miller was a member of the Hodag Harpers.
"It's super fun, a lot of energy, more costumes than last year I think," she said. "Bowling's great, the contests are fun and it's just fun to see everybody out supporting a good cause."
Everyone was excited to participate in the second annual Bowl for Kids' Sake, but Mary Kinnunen, event organizer, believed one group was more pumped than the others.
"The people who are most excited are former Big Brothers and Big Sisters, which speaks volumes," Kinnunen said.
Jaskie is a former Big and was happy to participate. She said there is a need for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
"My kids are now bigger so I'm going to try to get into being a Big," Jaskie added. "Everybody can use somebody. There are kids out there that just need somebody to talk to, that they can look up to, even if they have a mom or a dad."
Kinnunen said the Bowl for Kids' Sake Committee went the extra mile to make this year's event a success.
"Jo Waltenberg, Karyn Hansen and Michelle Miller and I collaborated to get this together and it went great, very smooth, a lot of fun to organize and plan," she said. "Hodag Lanes is always good to work with, Sharon Cline, a big kudos to her."
Kinnunen had fun organizing the event and thanks the businesses for their support.
"We're looking forward to having this event again next year," Kinnunen said. "Hodag Lanes is pumped about it, we're pumped about it."
Over $5,400 were raised for the organization. The money will go back to Big Brothers Big Sisters to help pay for Big and Little matches.
