Someone you should know
Jane Motowski, general manager of the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry
By Kayla Thomason-
RN: Please explain your job?
Motowski: I just make sure everything runs smooth. I try to keep everyone talking with each other, trying to make sure there is enough food here for everyone and not wasting a lot of food, and doing reports and paperwork. There's a lot involved but it's a good cause.
RN: How long have you held this job?
Motowski: About 8 years. I started helping the year after they opened in 2006.
RN: What is your favorite part of the job?
Motowski: It's just working with everyone, working with people. Like I tell everyone, there's nothing better for your soul than helping people. It makes you feel good it makes them feel good, it's a win-win.
RN: What is the biggest misconception about the job?
Motowski: I don't think people realize how much food goes through here in a year. We gave out over 500,000 pounds of food last year. We had over 600,000 come in and really for the amount of food that we have going through this place we don't waste a lot.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Motowski: I read, I sew, I used to do a lot of crafty stuff, I don't do a whole lot now. I like to spend a lot of time with my family if they're here. I always make time for family and friends.
