In 1931, the city of Rhinelander replaced its iron bridge on Davenport Street with a new, more modern structure. Improvements to the bridge were made in 1976, 1987 and 1995, when the tall streetlights were replaced with a shorter, old-fashioned type, returning to the style of the 1930s.
