To catch (a photo of) a Hodag: Rhinelander chamber asks fans for photos of Northwoods beast
The chamber this week launched the Hodag Photo Frenzy Contest, which asks fans to share photos of themselves with the Hodag for a chance to win a Hodag-centric prize package, including a two-night stay in Rhinelander, $100 in chamber bucks, Hodag merchandise and more.
Entering is easy: Just share any photo of an encounter with the Hodag, whether it's a selfie in front of the Hodag statue outside the Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce office, a picture with any of the smaller Hodag statues found around Rhinelander, or - even simpler - you with a Hodag T-shirt, stuffed animal or other Hodag swag.
If you can't make it to Rhinelander to snap a photo, you can also add the Hodag to your own photos by printing out a Hodag mask from the chamber's website or using the online Hodag Photo Generator.
"If you're from Rhinelander, you know all about the Hodag, but we were looking for a way to share this bit of our Northwoods heritage with fans in a fun, creative way," chamber executive director Dana DeMet said. "And the beauty of this contest is that it's fan-driven. We're looking forward to some really clever entries from all the amateur Hodag trackers out there."
Entries will be accepted through Nov. 30. During the contest period, some of the chamber's favorite photos will be shared on Facebook, Instagram and other channels.
