For the 50th time, the town of Minocqua will let loose with its biggest annual celebration - Beef-A-Rama.

This year's event will be held Friday and Saturday, Sept. 26 and 27, in Minocqua.

Initiated in 1964 by the Minocqua Retailers Association - and originally known as Fish-O-Rama - the event has drawn thousands to town for one of the quirkiest and most innovative special events held across the state.

Through the years, the same message has been delivered ... this day is a "thank you" from the town's merchants to all the visitors and customers who have frequented the area.

This year's event, the 50th anniversary edition, is no different. Because of that, organizers have tried to bring together another day that not only says "thanks," but also provides the time-honored traditions that have been so successful the past 49 years.

That means, of course, that there will be beef, and lots of it. That means that this year's event will offer the things that have been so well-loved through the years: great food, great entertainment and great tradition.

There have been a few additions to the event that have freshened it over the course of the past decade or so - one such addition has been the Rump Roast Run.

This year will also feature the Prime Choice Craft Show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Prime Choice Craft Show will feature close to 100 exhibitors set up rain or shine with a wide variety of unique handcrafted items being offered for sale. The artisans and craftsmen featured at the show are selected for their handmade craftsmanship and artistic talents. You will see original artwork, pottery, jewelry, tapestries, clothing, photography, wood creations, leather goods and more.

Live music and food concessions will be available on the upper level of Torpy Park and throughout downtown Minocqua to make this the place to be on the last weekend of September.
