Guitar master Willy Porter in concert Sept. 13 at Nicolet College
Along with his skills on the six-string and witty, improvisational storytelling, Porter has proven himself an audience favorite in this country and in Europe with an uncanny ability to connect with those who see his shows.
This Mequon native is known as one of Milwaukee's most skilled guitarists and entertaining performers, making complex arrangements look easy.
"A dazzling acoustic guitarist," is how a writer for The Washington Post described him while the Boston Globe noted his "Olympian speed of Leo Kottke."
Over the years Porter has honed his skills playing everything from large theaters and halls to small coffee houses and dive bars, moving with style from original guitar-driven rock, to folk, and acoustic tunes in each show.
Over his 20-year career, he has shared the stage with such notables as Jeff Beck, Sting, Jethro Tull, Tori Amos and Paul Simon.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at nicoletlive.com or by calling (715) 365-4646.
