Rhinelander/Elcho middle school bowling team ready for the season
"On the middle school, I have four of the five returning and I picked up a new bowler, Jacob Wagler," coach Mike Bourcier said.
Returning bowlers are Mackenzie Bourcier, Katrina Blasius, Calvin Schneider and Erik Jones. Darin Bloomquist moved up to the high school team this year.
Bourcier said the perk about this squad is that all the bowlers are middle-school aged. Fourth and fifth graders are allowed to compete on middle school teams but are not eligible to compete at state. That give the Hodags the opportunity to qualify for state as a team this season.
So far, Bourcier said practice has gone well.
"We're basically going back to the basics," Bourcier said. "They're getting it done and you see them progressing quicker than when they came in for the first time last year."
