NATH to recognize National Hunger and Homeless Awareness month
Additionally, the fifth annual Soup for Shelter will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15 at Nativity of Our Lord gymnasium, (St. Mary site) 125 E. King Street in Rhinelander. The doors will open at 5 p.m., with dinner being served at 5:30 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., the winners of the basket raffles, along with door prizes will be announced. Arriving early ensures one will have a chance to look over the raffle items.
Local restaurants and organizations have once again been generous with donations of their specialty soups and breads, NATH said in a press release announcing the event. Volunteers are creating desserts, while other businesses are donating supplies and raffle items or baskets. NATH's Community Outreach and Fundraising Committee is hosting this event and are promoting it by placing posters at various locations. All proceeds will go to Frederick Place, the homeless shelter in Rhinelander, which supports the homeless from a five-county area: Oneida, Vilas, Lincoln, Forest and Langlade counties.
There is no ticket price for dinner, but a free will offering will be accepted at the door. To make a monetary donation, partner to support the Everybody Deserves Shelter Campaign, or share an item for the Soup for Shelter raffle, call Frederick Place at (715) 369-9777. Those who have committed to date to support one or both events include All About Style, CLC Payroll & Accounting, Coffee Beans, etc., CoVantage Credit Union, Crimson Cup, Cross Country Bar & Grill, Fantastic Sam's, Forth Floral, Friendship House, Howard Young Medical Center, Marshfield Clinic, Moondance, Nativity Catholic School, Northern Cedar, Northern Clothing, Northern Coffee Haus, Northland Orthopedic, Oneida Village, Pappillions, Park City Credit Union, Ripco Credit Union, Rummy's, Sportsman's Café, The Cookery, and Timber Drive Dental, These businesses and individuals are gratefully recognized for their donations to these events, NATH said.
