People can come in and take whatever they need, regardless of income or where they live.
"There's no questions asked, anyone can come," said Jan Leschke, co-founder. "They can take as much as they want. So many people [that come] for the first time, they come in and are like 'Do you need to see our income tax or do I need to answer any questions?' and there is none of that."
Warm for Winter and More has coats, sweaters, slacks, shirts, socks, shoes, jeans, bedding, underwear and nightwear for every family member. They even have toys children can take, which will come in handy when the weather is too harsh for outside play.
All of the items are in good condition. There are no stains, holes, rips etc. Warm for Winter and More will be available on the last Saturday of the month. This will continue through February.
Warm for Winter and More averages around 1,000 customers or more each season.
Leschke and her friend, Gale Wilcox, created Warm for Winter and More approximately eight years ago. They donated some of their own clothes to get the program started, according to Leschke.
Friendly Village is located at 900 Boyce Drive in Rhinelander.
"[Friendly Village] gave us a wing of their building to have [Warm for Winter and More]," Leschke said.
Warm for Winter and More is under the auspices of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Rhinelander.
