According to the sheriff's office, the investigation targeted individuals who solicit children for the purpose of engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
Officers from the task force used Craigslist to communicate with these individuals. There were 24 arrests made including two in Oneida County.
Paul Loucks, 38, of Weston, and Ted Wasson, 37, of Rhinelander, were arrested late last week in Rhinelander, the sheriff's department said. Both men were expected to make their initial appearances in Oneida County Circuit Court Monday afternoon at which time they were expected to be charged with child enticement and using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime.
The sheriff's department notes there have been five other operations like Aegis since 2012. This was the first time the Oneida County Sheriff's Office actively participated.
The Rhinelander Police Department also assisted in Operation Aegis.
