LUHS Model UN student groups host annual gift and craft fair
"This is an excellent opportunity to select unique, handmade gifts for family, friends and yourself," stresses LUHS social studies teacher Frank Keeler, who sponsors three very active Model UN student groups. "There will be a wide assortment of gifts, decorative items, food, furniture, jewelry, art, children's toys, dolls dresses, Christmas wreaths, and much more."
"Our event always attracts a large number of shoppers, who seem to appreciate the fact that the gifts which they purchase are made by very creative and skillful people from our area, and the money they spend will probably be put right back into our local economy by the crafters.
"Shoppers also appreciate being able to shop under one roof, especially when the temperature is cold and there is snow on the ground," concludes Keeler.
The Model UN students will hold their annual holiday bake sale at the fair and will offer lunch and snacks for hungry shoppers.
The junior students in Model UN just returned from their conference in Williamsburg. Before returning home, the students briefly toured major sites in Washington, D.C. Sophomore students in Model UN will travel to Chicago in December for their conference. In the spring seniors in Model UN will travel to New York. Several senior students are also planning to travel to Ireland for an international Model UN experience.
"Shoppers can expect to see senior and sophomore Model UN students helping to put on this event, since all profits made will go toward the costs of their conferences," explains Keeler.
