Once a holiday tradition, the fruitcake doesn't appear among the goodies on the table as often as it once did. For many years, the Kiwanis Club of Rhinelander sold fruitcakes as an annual Christmas fundraiser. Ten two-man teams knocked on doors in the Rhinelander area. The 1965 sales helped develop a county park at Town Line Lake. The boxed cakes were also available in some local stores. That year the first three-pound box was delivered to Mayor Rudy Mikulich. Pictured, from right to left, are Joh Macon, George White, Mikulich, Carl Montag, Joseph Ritchie, Richard Anglin, Werner Zimmer and Ray Woita. Today's Kiwanis Club offers poinsettias for the holiday season.
