Lumberjack RC&D Announces Forestry Award winners

Lumberjack Resource Conservation & Development Council (RC&D) recently announced its annual Sustainable Forestry Award Winners. The awards are given annually in three different categories. Roland Rueckert earned the Forest Steward of the Year Award for improving and managing his forested lands in Oneida County. The Alliance of the Northern States Working to Ensure Regional Stability (ANSWERS) earned the Chairman's Special Achievement Award for promoting good forest stewardship through education and example in Florence County. John "Jack" Kucksdorf earned the Friend of Forestry Award for his many achievements in promoting good forest management on his lands in Menominee County.

Since Lumberjack Resource Conservation & Development Council's inception in 1968, the council has developed long-term relationships with numerous agencies, organizations, businesses and individuals who promote sustainable forest management. In 2003, Lumberjack's Forestry Committee established a "Sustainable Forestry Awards" program to recognize the important contributions made to sustainable forestry and the RC&D program.
