Baltus to join Howard Young Foundation
Minocqua chamber seeking new executive director
The announcement was made in an evening message sent to chamber members, in which Baltus said she will serve as the foundation's development specialist.
"I'm excited for the opportunity to join a team focused on providing support to maintain the highest level of healthcare possible for people in the northern Wisconsin communities served by Ministry Howard Young Healthcare," Baltus wrote in the message. "My prior experience working in the fields of health care and charitable community programs will serve me very well in my new role with the Howard Young Foundation."
Earlier in the day, Buck Drossart, president of the chamber's board, issued a press release announcing Baltus' resignation. He praised her for helping to refine the chamber's presence and strengthening the Northwoods economy.
"She has certainly elevated the chamber organization to greater heights over her tenure," Drossart said. "Although we are sorry to see Kim leave, at the same time we are certainly happy for, and supportive of, her decision."
He said Baltus notified the board earlier this week about her departure.
Before coming to the Minocqua chamber, Baltus worked for Forward Service Corporation in Wausau and the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She also served as executive director for Marshfield Area United Way.
Last year, Baltus was elected president of the Oneida County Tourism Council.
Lyn Pilch, of Pilch & Barnet, an advertising agency contracted by the tourism council to produce marketing materials promoting the Northwoods, said she was surprised to learn that Baltus would be resigning.
"Her leadership was instrumental in keeping the organization for Oneida County's tourism council successful during her reign as the president," said Pilch, who has worked with Baltus since she started at the chamber. "She is excellent at working with multiple organizations and she's a great person to work with."
Drossart said the chamber's board has formed a search committee and is in the process of strategizing how best to find a replacement.
Baltus' last day at the chamber will be June 26.
Baltus' message to chamber members
Here is a full copy of the message Baltus sent Friday to members of the Minocqua Area Chamber of Commerce:
It's with mixed emotion that I let you know I have accepted a position with the Howard Young Foundation as the foundation's development specialist. I'm excited for the opportunity to join a team focused on providing support to maintain the highest level of healthcare possible for people in the northern Wisconsin communities served by Ministry Howard Young Healthcare.
My prior experience working in the fields of health care and charitable community programs will serve me very well in my new role with the Howard Young Foundation. My last day at the chamber will be Thursday, June 26, 2014.
Your support and kindness has meant so much to me over the past 3+ years. I look forward to continuing to support the chamber as a volunteer.
