We also had several students who shared their piano skills by entertaining the crowd with piano pieces. We even had a student that played a snare drum. The fourth grade theme was Celebrate America while the fifth grade theme was A Celebration of Good Will. The performances came off without a hitch and parents, grandparents and all others in attendance were treated to fine entertainment.
Congratulations to Ms. Karsten and to the entire Central staff as all of the hard work preparing for the concerts was well worth the effort.
The Central parent group also sponsored a great night of fun and dance. The Neon Light '80s theme was evident not only in clothing but also the disco ball that was present. We had a deejay on site who never took a break for the whole night and kept the students on the dance floor for most of the evening. Students also had the opportunity to go to a face painting station, a cupcake walk, a food station, a pin the mustache on the teacher station and a photo booth station. There were easily 100 students in attendance throughout the evening and all faces were smiling. This was a great community event and hats off to the Central parent group who put in many hours in preparation for this wonderful activity. During the day, several teachers and students dressed in the '80s theme and everyone had a good laugh enjoying the different outfits.
To complete the month of May, Central School will be hosting a 75th year anniversary bash. Central School was built in 1939. We have heard from many community members who are interested in attending this evening and looking back through the years. We have heard from a teacher who actually taught at Central School until she married in the late '40s and then she was required to step down. She later rejoined the Central staff and taught until 1984. Another community member stopped in the office and shared pictures of when he was a student back in the '60s. We also have a current staff member who graduated from Central School in the '80s. We are hoping for a good turnout and there will be many decades of pictures to be seen. We hope that some of the folks who have been a part of Central will be in attendance and maybe even share a story or two.
