The public is invited to a fun and nostalgic evening at the Rhinelander District Library on Monday, May 19 at 6:30 p.m. Raymond Quicksilver will present "The '60s! ... Artifacts, Stories and Memories."

Quicksilver will bring the '60s alive again with artifacts from people whose influence on this special time is unmistakable, as well as his unique experience at Woodstock and other interesting stories from that era, the library said in a press release.

Come see the coat worn by John Lennon during the "Sgt. Pepper" Beatles years that he eventually gave to Jimi Hendrix. Hendrix later personally gave the coat to Quicksilver, who is a Milwaukee native and was then living in the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco. There will also be two scarves on display that were worn by Janis Joplin at Woodstock, which she gave to Quicksilver at that time.

Quicksilver will share the stories behind these artifacts and how he met Hendrix and Joplin. The audience is encouraged to bring their own "artifacts," stories, questions and memories from this important period of our history. In addition, wearing '60s "regalia" is welcome! Students are especially encouraged to attend.

This program is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served. Please call Rhinelander District Library at (715) 365-1070 with any questions.
