WRJO named Wisconsin's Small Market Station of the Year

Heartland's WRJO radio station has been named the "2013 Small Market Station of the Year" and "2013 Small Market News Operation of the Year" by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association. The WBA's "Awards for Excellence" annual meeting was held at the Marriott West in Madison, Saturday, May 5, 2014. WRJO received a total of 14 awards, including six first-place awards for:

- Best Interview

- Best Live On-Scene Reporting

- Best Significant Community Impact

- Best Spot News

- Best Public Service Announcement

- Best Humorous Commercial

The award for Best Humorous Commercial was for an announcement written for Prime Choice Meats in Eagle River.

Heartland CEO Jim Coursolle said, "I want to congratulate (general manager) Craig Whetstine and (program director) Mike Wolf and their entire WRJO team for the outstanding job they did in winning 14 statewide 'Awards for Excellence' last evening." 

According to WRJO Vice President and General Manager Craig Whetstine, winning these statewide awards "...was a team effort. I want to thank Amy Linnett, Mike Wolf and Bruce Marcus for their hard work. We are honored to bring this award home to Eagle River."

WTMJ/Milwaukee (large market) and WHBY/Appleton (medium market) join WRJO in winning Station of the Year honors. There are 378 radio stations in Wisconsin.
