With just a few more months until the gates open, the entertainment for the Oneida County fair, to be held from July 31 to Aug. 3 at Pioneer Park, has been set.

"I think [the crowds] are going to like [the bands] really well," said Theresa Seabloom, one of two entertainment committee members. "The ones that have been here before we bring them back because they did go over so well."

The Northwoods Brass Quintet will kick off the entertainment at 5 p.m. July 31, followed by Tuck Pence at 5:30 and then Deep Water Reunion.

The Northwoods Brass Quintet will harmonize near the flag.

Tuck Pence will be performing several genres such as Americana, country rock, pop, and his own original songs on the Village Green.

Deep Water Reunion will play some soulful Blues on the Big Top stage. The band consists of David "Big Pipes" Gee as vocalist, Tom "Skin Tite" Swearingen on drums, as well as other talented people on guitar, sax, bass, clarinet and keys.

Robert "One-Man" Johnson will play for the crowd at 4 p.m. Aug. 1 He plays the harmonica, guitar, hi-hat cymbal and footpiano at the same time.

He will be followed by Copper Box, who will take the stage from 8 to 11 p.m.

Copper Box is new to the Oneida County Fair and will be playing Americana, Polka and Zydeco on the Big Top stage.

Their style is a Zydeco Swamp/Blues Rock. Zydeco is popular in southern Louisiana. It combines tunes that have a French origin and infuse it with Blues and Caribbean music.

Local bands from the TuneSmith Academy will usher in Saturday's entertainment at noon. The Band KIN will take over at 4 p.m., followed by Momma's Little Hippies from 8 to 11 p.m.

TuneSmith Academy consists of six or seven rock bands from Rhinelander's TuneSmith Academy. They will be performing on the Big Top stage.

KIN is a family band that plays Roots/Rock music. They will be found on the Village Green and are new this year.

Momma's Little Hippies is also new this year. They will play classic Hippie Rock music on the Big Top stage. They will take the audience back to the '60s, '70s and '80s with their music.

Sunday winds down with TRISIS, which will perform from 2 to 5 p.m. on the main stage. They are new to the Oneida County Fair as well.

TRISIS is a family band that specializes in vintage harmonies that were popular from the 1920s to the 1950s.

That's not all for entertainment. UB the Band will have three interactive music shows per day, allowing children to be little band members.

All the instruments are real, they are not toys or computer games.

"We're excited for the fair, we are very pleased with the offering of the entertainment," Seabloom said. "We are looking forward to a successful fair."

Fair organizers have also put out a call for one-of-a-kind lamps to be entered in the Ugly Lamp Contest.

The contest has been expanded in 2014 to include these three categories:

- Most Unique: Converted from another object into a lamp

- Best Decorated: Decorations added to an existing lamp

- Just Plain Ugly: An ugly lamp in the raw

A top prize and ribbons will be awarded in each category, as well as an overall People's Choice Award.

The lamps will be displayed at the Fairgrounds at Pioneer Park in Rhinelander and judging will take place on Saturday, Aug. 2.

More details and the registration form can be found at the fair's website, www.oneidacounty fairwi.com.
