Dr. Sikka earned his medical degree and completed his internship at Government Medical College-Patiala, Punjab, and completed residencies with Cook County Hospital, Chicago, and General Hospital, Chandigarh, India.
Gurkirpal S. Sikka, MD, and his specially trained staff understand pain and are interested in reducing patients' pain issues. The Pain Control Center treats acute and chronic pain with a holistic approach. Specializing in interventional pain medicine procedures, various conditions that are treated may include low back pain, neck pain, accident-related discomfort, myofascial pain and nerve pain, such as shingles. Treatments may include epidural steroid injections, facet joint injections, nerve blocks, trigger point injections, spinal cord stimulator placements, placement of long-term pain pumps and radiofrequency ablation.
The Pain Control Center in Rhinelander originated in 1985 with the arrival of Dr. Gurkirpal S. Sikka, and he is currently the medical director of the Pain Control Center. The goal of the pain management team is to give patients an improved quality of life.
