Students are provided with additional activities called clubs that build on math and reading skills and provide time to engage in science, community, and recreational activities.
Some of the current clubs being offered are provided through a partnership with 4-H and the YMCA, and feature swimming, crocheting, dance, sign language and theater games. CHAMPS program staff also facilitate popular clubs such as "minute to win it" which is based off of the game show, cooking, fort building, yoga, earth club, writing club and a rock and gem club, just to name a few. Family nights provide a time for students to showcase what they have learned at CHAMPS. The next family night will take place in April and will feature hands-on activities for parents to try some of the club activities, as well as entertain and display student work. Most recently, Central CHAMPS had a performer entertain the children and parents during a magic show..
CHAMPS is committed to continuing to improve students academic achievements, improve attendance during the school year, creating positive attitudes towards school, and improving homework completion. CHAMPS has many community supporters who give of their time to promote positive outcomes for students.
