The Hodags started the tournament with an epic battle against eventual state runner-up Baldwin. The Blackhawks pulled off a 1-0 double overtime victory, scoring 40 seconds into the second OT session with the Hodags on a 5-on-3 penalty kill. Rhinelander goalie Seth Stafford made 18 saves in the loss.
Rhinelander defeated Sauk Prairie 3-2 in the consolation semifinals. Sam Tjugum scored twice, Bridger Flory scored and Danny Zuiker had an assist as the Hodags jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Sauk Prairie closed to within a goal after two periods but Stafford turned aside all the shots he faced in the third - and 20 overall - to secure the win.
The Hodags scored three times in the third period, including an empty-netter in the final seconds to defeat River Falls 4-0 for the consolation championship. Tjugum, Harrison Shinners, Hunter Hicks and Abe Laggis all scored for the Hodags. Hicks and Laggis added assists and Stafford recorded 19 saves in the shutout.
