The Rhinelander High School Green Shades Jazz Ensemble participated in the fifth-annual Shawano Jazz Festival March 15 at Shawano High School. Out of 21 bands participating, Green Shades was presented with the Class Act Award. This award is given to the band demonstrating respect for others, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. The recipient of this award is determined by a variety of people working with the band students over the course of the day. In addition, lead trumpet player Ben Sawyer and lead trombone player Kayla Wenos received Outstanding Soloist Awards.
