Ministry Health Care is pleased to welcome Valerie Verbist, APNP, to Ministry Medical Group's family medicine department. She will be providing care at Ministry Medical Group, located 401 West Mohawk Drive in Tomahawk.

As a nurse practitioner, Verbist can help patients of all ages with most health issues. She can prescribe medication and other treatments, perform physical exams, diagnose and treat common medical problems, diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions, manage a patient's ongoing health care and provide patient education and counseling. Verbist has a special interest in nutrition and using lifestyle modifications to improve health. Verbist received her master's degree in nursing from Concordia College in Mequon. She also holds a bachelor's degree in nursing from UW-Green Bay, and an associate degree in nursing from Nicolet Area Technical College in Rhinelander. She is certified in advanced cardiac life support.

"I enjoy team sports and had a basketball scholarship in college. Medicine can be a lot like basketball; you must communicate well, work as a team, and strive for a common goal to be successful. I consider my patients to be an important part of the team, and I am passionate about helping them win when it comes to their health."

In her spare time, Verbist enjoys physical activity, especially baseball and basketball. She is an avid cook and gardener, and likes to spend time with her family.
