By Kayla Thomason-
Shoppers will find household items, books, antiques, collectibles, sporting goods, toys, craft items, furniture, children's clothing, tools, shelving, file cabinets, desks, stackable and wood chairs, globes, tables and much more. All items will be clean and in good condition.
All the items for sale were donated by RAREA members, their families and friends, as well as the current educating staff in RAREA's membership area.
Baked goods - made by RAREA members - will include bars, candy and cookies.
Only cash will be accepted for the sale items and baked goods.
Proceeds from the sale will go toward a scholarship for a Nicolet College student who is pursuing a degree in education.
"We decided to have a rummage sale/bake sale to raise money for a scholarship for a student attending Nicolet College who is pursuing a degree in education," said Jill Petersen, co-chair of the RAREA Scholarship Rummage/Bake Sale. "The student would have graduated from an area high school and be starting their third year of college with the desire to obtain a teaching degree."
Area high schools include those in Vilas and Oneida counties as well as Crandon.
A scholarship committee at Nicolet College chose Lauren Kriesel to be the recipient of this year's $1,000 award.
"I'm very honored for this award it's a very big honor and I'm excited to start my career as a teacher in three years," Kriesel said.
Kriesel said she has planned to be a teacher since her first day of kindergarten.
She will be furthering her education at UW-Stevens Point and upon graduation will have a degree in birth to third grade. She hopes to teach kindergarten one day.
"We wanted someone that is really set on education, that's what their goal is," said Joan Schutts, chairperson of the scholarship committee for RAREA.
