City grateful for Fourth of July parade's continued success
"As a representative of the city of Rhinelander, I want to convey a deep appreciation for the efforts that have been put in by Dale Schlieve and all of his volunteers," the mayor told the Northwoods River News. "I think that the proof is in the pudding so to speak in regards to the activities that they present on the Fourth of July. It's a tremendous effort on everybody's part and it's certainly appreciated by the city of Rhinelander."
Schlieve has been the parade coordinator for over a quarter of a century and the mayor believes he should be honored for his dedicated service.
"Dale's been at it since I've been mayor and he's done a lot of work with it," Johns said. "It's been a great event for the city and is always very popular and I think that's got to be recognized. It's certainly beneficial to the city in regards to bringing people into the community."
Above all else, the mayor said the parade gives the community something to enjoy on the holiday and that should be appreciated.
"It's one of the bigger parades around and the people always love it," he said.
"That's something that should be recognized and something we should be thankful for."
