Kids from across the Northwoods recently explored careers in wildlife rehabilitation as they learned about the field in the first of many Summer Discovery classes at Nicolet College.

"This is great hands-on experience for the kids," said Courtney Wright, class instructor and assistant director at the Northwoods Wildlife Center in Minocqua. "They get to see firsthand what it is like to work in wildlife rehabilitation. This experience will help them decide if they want to go into this or a related field when it comes time for them to select a career."

The Go Wild for Wildlife class kicked off Nicolet's Summer Discovery series which runs through Aug. 1.

Other upcoming classes for youth entering grades four through seven are:

Friday, July 11 - Outdoor Adventure on Lake Julia and Harness the Power of the Sun.

Friday, July 18 - The World Through the Eye of a Photographer and The World is Your Canvas.

Friday, July 25 - Make & Take the Cake and Comic Book Creations.

Friday, Aug. 1 - SewFabulous Fashion - It's a Wrap; Your Life in Pictures - Scrapbook Archiving; and Fun with Fossils - Can You "Dig It"?

Each class runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Nicolet College Campus one mile south of Rhinelander just off of County Highway G. Cost is $45 for each class.
