Printpack donates $1,000 to Taste of Chocolate event
Snickers bars are no longer a Taste of Chocolate staple, but Printpack remains the sponsor and for the seventh annual event this year the company will be continuing one of its traditions - the Golden Ticket drawing where one lucky winner will receive $1,000 in downtown bucks.
On Thursday, Printpack's Rhinelander plant manager Pat Marquardt presented Maggie Steffen, executive director of Downtown Rhinelander Inc. (DRI), with a $1,000 check to be used for the Golden Ticket drawing. The winner of the drawing will receive that money in the form of $25 certificates that can be used at downtown businesses.
Steffen said DRI appreciates the donation because it's money that will end up being spent directly in the downtown.
"They do a ton in the community," Steffen said of Printpack. "The fact that they want to help us shows that they recognize the importance of a healthy downtown. We appreciate that they do this for us."
There are 33 businesses participating in this year's Taste of Chocolate which is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7. The Golden Ticket drawing will occur at 8:15 p.m. at Hext Theatre. Tickets are $5 and available at Trig's, Northern Coffee Haus and the Rhinelander Cafe & Pub. Every ticket purchaser is entered into the drawing and also gets some sort of "taste of chocolate" at each participating business. Last year, nearly 480 tickets were sold, Steffen said.
