School District of Rhinelander officials announced Sunday evening that school will be canceled Monday and Tuesday due to the extremely cold temperatures predicted for both days. All afternoon activities, practices and games have also been canceled.

"It's forecast to be extremely cold and if you look at the forecast, it's actually supposed to be worse Tuesday," said Marta Kwiatkowski, the district's director of business services.

The National Weather Service in Green Bay has issued a wind chill warning for its entire forecast area, including the Northwoods, from midnight tonight to noon Tuesday.

Wind chill values of minus 35-to-40 are expected late Sunday through early Monday evening. Wind chill values could plummet to minus 45-to-50 Monday night and Tuesday morning.

The days will have to be made up at the end of the year.

The Board of Education's retreat scheduled for Monday evening is still happening. It takes place at 7 p.m. in the Professional Development Center in the second floor of the high school. The board is expected to decide the fate of RHS football coach Jim Moore during the retreat.
