Pelican School staff recently challenged all district employees to help support the Salvation Army's bell-ringing efforts. Each school, as well as administration, was asked to ring for a minimum of 10 hours starting Nov. 22 and ending Dec. 24. The district's total hours donated was 56. Pelican School staff embraced this challenge and dedicated 18 hours to win a special bell trophy. The district is hoping to start a tradition and see the bell travel to each school in the future. The staff gladly shared their thoughts on the event.

Renee Miszewski and Kathy Kellen: "We would love to do it again, it was an awesome experience. We had people stopping and talking with us as we chose our own take on the actual ring of the bell. We kept the tempo up for the entire two hours. Lots of fun."

Kim Koth: "I very much enjoyed bell ringing. It was my first time doing it with a fun group of ladies. It was awesome! We sang songs and help spread some holiday cheer while doing something worthwhile for the community. I would definitely do it again."

Tony Klein: "The experience was very positive as was the generosity of the Rhinelander community; Pelican school families passed and were quick to donate to a worthy cause!"

Kevin Mahoney: "It always gives me a feeling of pride and accomplishment when giving back to others in our community. I would be glad to ring the bell next year for the Salvation Army."

Rachel Palmer: "I really enjoyed the time spent with my colleagues. It was cold, but we had fun working together for a good cause! I would definitely do it again next year."
