Kropidlowski twins are the first babies of 2014 at St. Mary's in Rhinelander
By Kayla Thomason-
Twins Devin Elhy and Aiden Scott were born Friday afternoon at Ministry Saint Mary's Hospital in Rhinelander to Sue Ann and Jeffrey Kropidlowski.
Devin weighed in at 4 pounds 10.3 ounces. He was 18 inches long and was welcomed into the world at 12:14 p.m. Aiden weighed 5 pounds 3.8 ounces and was 18.5 inches long. He greeted everyone at 12:31 p.m. The boys were transported to Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield after delivery. Aiden has some breathing issues and Devin has an infection but the family hopes to bring them home in a week or two.
Jeffrey Kropidlowski is a truck driver and was on the other side of Minnesota when he got the call that Sue Ann was in labor. He drove through a snowstorm to make it to the hospital.
The couple said they are thrilled to be adding twins to their family.
"I was ecstatic [to find out there were twins]," Sue Ann said. "My little brother has twin girls and I love going to visit them, which I don't get to do often, but I always thought it would be just a blessing to have that in my life like my brother does. Then when I found out I actually was going to have it, it was a tearjerker that's for sure."
Jeffrey reminisced about the moment the couple found out they were having twins.
"That night she wished 'Gee wouldn't it be something if there were two in there?' And we went to the doctor and found out there were two in there. Just a couple of days ago she goes 'Boy I really wish this would get over, I just can't handle this anymore.' Well two days later she's in the hospital and having our kids."
The Kropidlowskis and their older son Sean get to watch the twins over NICVIEW, a live-feed program that allows parents to see their babies in real time when they are in different hospitals. NICVIEW is a new program and has been available to parents since just prior to Christmas. Parents are given a secure log-in and can watch their babies any time of the day. The only time viewing is unavailable is when they are being cared for. This service is funded by the Children's Miracle Network and is free to families.
