Youth Roundup: JWMS gymnasts end season on high note

The James Williams Middle School gymnastics team ended its 2014 season by posting its best score of the year in a triangular meet win over Minocqua-Hazelhurst-Lake Tomahawk and Antigo Monday at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.

The Hodags finished with 119.05 points. MHLT was second with 97.8. Antigo was third with 80.75.

Hodags Stephanie Kuester and Raven Sturtevant dominated the triangular. Kuester won three of the four events and the individual all-around. Sturtevant took first on the balance beam, second in the other three events and second in the all-around.

Makayla Kuester finished third in the all-around. She took third on vault and tied for fifth on the uneven bars. Other top-five finishers for the Hodags were Emily Radtke, who finished third on balance beam and the floor exercise, Cassie Choinski, who finished third on uneven bars and fourth on the floor, Kayla Kossack, who finished fourth on vault and Mikayla Evenstad, who finished tied for fifth on balance beam.
