Northwoods Children's Museum's Humpty Dumpty program offers free open house
"Our open house is (a) great opportunity for parents to see all of the fun we have here and learn more about what we do and our philosophy," said Montezon. "It may seem early to sign up for the fall program, but spots really fill up fast!"
The Humpty Dumpty program is designed to provide developmentally age-appropriate educational experiences for 3 and 4-year-olds in a loving environment, better preparing them for kindergarten and beyond, according to a museum press release. This is designed to be a teaching program, not a playgroup, and will develop the "whole child." Each session includes five major developmental and learning segments: Free play, movement/motor skills, art, storytelling and music, promoting all aspects of a child's social, emotional and physical development.
"We added a 'Coffee Chat' session that helps parents and caregivers network and discuss parenting issues," stated Rouleen Gartner, executive director of the Northwoods Children's Museum. "And there is also a 'Friday Fun Day' for 4K that can be a great supplement to other 4K programs."
Morning sessions for 4-year-olds are Monday, Wednesday and Friday (optional), 3-year-olds on Tuesday and Thursday. Cost is $120/month for 4-year-olds, $100/month for 3-year-olds. A non-refundable fee of $25/child is required upon registration. The Humpty Dumpty Program follows the Northland Pines school calendar from September through the end of April. Families who can't make the open house can sign up by calling the museum at (715) 479-4623 - class size is limited.
