Millot to attend Wisconsin State Senate Scholar Program
The State Senate Scholars Program is a week-long educational program for 33 academically exceptional high school students from around the state. The program provides students with the opportunity to experience real-life state government in action. Students interact with representatives of the state legislature and other state government offices, the attorney general and the governor. Students gain insight and experience in diverse areas of government ranging from policy development to constituent relations to the processing of legislation through collaborative work with senators, legislative staffs and the University of Wisconsin faculty, according to a press release announcing Millot's selection.
Students are selected following a competitive application process that includes an examination, essay, letters of recommendation, strong academic credentials, and nomination from the applicant's State Senator. In nominating Gabbe, 12th District State Senator Tom Tiffany (R-Hazelhurst) noted that, "she is excelling academically through a diverse track ranging from fine arts to technology to engineering," and "Gabbe's extracurricular involvement is representative of a committed and well-rounded community leader."
Additional information regarding the State Senate Scholar Program can be obtained from Legislative Training Officer, Cyrus Anderson, [email protected].
