Children's museum to hold casino night in Rhinelander
This year's event will give party-goers the chance to use "fun money" to play a variety of Las Vegas-style games including blackjack, roulette, craps and horses. At the end of the evening players can use their winnings to purchase raffle tickets for prizes. Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in drawings to win a $750 diamond necklace, electronics, one-of-a-kind services and cold hard cash plus bid on fabulous items in the silent auction. All of this takes place in a room decorated like an authentic casino complete with light dinner buffet and $5,000 in play money for $25. Additional chips will be available for those on a losing streak.
"While many guests believe the museum receives proceeds from the ticket sales, the money actually goes to cover the cost of the food and casino host," said Rouleen Gartner, NCM executive director. " This year we're letting attendees purchase 'high roller' tickets where a portion of their ticket sale does go to the museum. For $50, gamers will get $10,000 in play money and for an additional $50, those guests will also receive (an) endless glass of champagne and entry into an exclusive raffle."
Event sponsors include WXPR Public Radio and Peoples State Bank.
The event will be held at Holiday Acres Resort in Rhinelander from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, March 1 with registration beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 for basic, and $50 to $100 for high rollers. For more information, call (715) 479-4623 or visit www.NorthwoodsChildrensMuseum.com. Tickets can be purchased at the over the phone, at the museum at 346 West Division Street in Eagle River, or at the door.
