In the early 1960s, Rhinelander's city limits were not yet extended far enough to include the tiny Hodag Bar. Postcards of the building, photographed by George Feldman, were used to advertise the business which was then 1/4 mile east of the city limits on Highways 8 & 47. Owners Don and Charlotte Schauer also called it the Sportsman's Headquarters. The building, which recently had been used as a realty office, will soon be gone. It will be replaced by a Dunkin' Donuts.
