Monica Bartishofski's coworkers at Trig's in Rhinelander miss her radiant smile, bubbly personality and boundless optimism.

Bartishofski, 36, of Rhinelander, passed away Feb. 14 as the result of a car accident.

"She was the most beautiful person, she always smiled, she rarely ever complained [and] she lit up your life," said Wendy McMahon, Bartishofski's coworker of more than 18 years. "So many people here loved her. She was just wonderful."

Several of Bartishofski's coworkers commented on how dedicated she was to her job. She loved to bring in carts and always greeted customers with a genuine smile, they said. She gave her all every day and could always be counted on to come in for a shift.

"She always wanted to be here, she always wanted to be around 'her' customers," said store manager Steve Heise. "Monica was phenomenal with the customers, she knew everyone and again they knew her. She greeted everybody, she talked to everybody, she took care of them."

Bartishofski inspired the people who worked along side her. She inspired McMahon to get her driver's license.

"If she could [get her driver's license], I could do it so I went out and got my license and now I drive," McMahon said.

Jan Snyder worked with Bartishofski for about 11 years and had only positive things to say about her.

"She was one of the best people we had here. I really liked Monica, she was a very nice person to work with and I'm going to miss her very much," Snyder said.

According to her friends at Trig's, Bartishofski was very active. She loved competing in the Special Olympics, where she won many medals, and she participated in the Polar Plunge a few times. She loved her family and friends and always talked about her big brother, her nieces, her dad, and how she missed her mother who died of cancer a few years ago.

"It's with great sadness that Monica is no longer with us here," Heise said. "We were all shocked (when we heard of her passing). [There were] a lot of sad faces. Monica is definitely going to be missed."
