If a resolution is not reached beforehand, Jacinto is scheduled to go to trial March 21. Jacinto, 29, is facing a charge of manufacturing/delivery of methamphetamine, a class F felony that carries a maximum possible sentence of 12 1/2 years in the state prison system.
Jacinto is alleged to have sold meth on Dec. 11 to Randy Zadnik, 45, manager of Zadnik's Brick Oven Bistro on Brown Street. The transaction allegedly occurred in the kitchen of the restaurant according to the criminal complaint. An investigation started when a person close to Zadnik contacted law enforcement and expressed concern about his welfare. Suspected use of methamphetamine as well as other narcotic drugs was uncovered during the investigation, which included interviews with several employees of Zadnik's Brick Oven Bistro.
Zadnik also made an appearance in Oneida County Circuit Court this week. He is facing a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia and felony counts of possession of methamphetamine and possession of narcotic drugs.
According to Oneida County Assistant District Attorney Susan Sommer, a plea deal offer was made to Zadnik but because of a clerical error he did not receive the letter from the district attorney's office prior to Monday's court hearing. A pretrial conference was scheduled for March 11 to allow time to complete negotiations. Zadnik waived his right to an attorney last month and continues to represent himself in the matter.
