"I know as a group they are competitive and they are giving and wonderful and they jump at the opportunity to do this kind of thing," Arnott said.
The class collected 15 to 20 glasses, which will be distributed in Honduras, Mexico, Guatemala and other areas.
"All of [the students] were asked to collect glasses from parents and grandparents and students themselves," said Harry Helwig, a member of the Rhinelander Lions Club.
As a reward for collecting the most glasses, the class was given a breakfast pizza.
"It's one of these projects that is just going to build because these guys, next time we do it are going to go 'Oh yeah, we got a pizza party out of that, we gotta get that again," added Jill Zwiers, advisor of the Leo Club said.
The Leo Club, which sponsored the collection, is sponsored by the Lions Club. This is the first collection the Leos have done with schools.
Arnott is proud of her class and is amazed by their generosity and how they tackle events like this.
"They are so kind and giving and generous with each other and everything else. I think they are a great group of kids to have at the middle school." Arnott said.
